Some Stories Should Not Be Lost
People have been asking me why I created Wisdom Wears Wrinkles. The simple answer is respect and curiosity.
I have always admired older people. Growing up, I listened carefully to what they had to say, not because every piece of advice was perfect, but because every life carries experience worth hearing. Over the years that respect has only deepened. It was not a learned or deliberate approach, but an innate sense that great wisdom could be gained simply by paying attention to, and listening to, older folk.
I have always been fascinated by people’s stories: the moments that shaped them, the choices that worked well, and the ones that did not. I am especially interested in the quiet resilience of people who have worked hard for decades, sometimes weather‑beaten, often humble, but still carrying positivity and a perspective that deserves to be shared.
Wisdom Wears Wrinkles exists for one reason: to capture those stories in simple, human conversations. No celebrities. No polished media training required. Just every day, down‑to‑earth people in their third act of life who are willing to talk honestly about what they have learned.
I wanted the process to be easy and respectful, so the interviews are done online with a single click, no technical hurdles, no pressure. I will be honest: I am new to interviewing and a little nervous, but that is part of the joy of it. I get to learn, and younger generations get to hear wisdom that might otherwise be lost.
If you are 65+, male or female, retired or still active, or even 105, I would genuinely love to hear from you.
Warm regards,
Richard John Potton
